Prakasam Barrage is 1223.5 meters in length and was completed in the year 1957. It is one of the first major irrigation projects of South India and helps in irrigating about 12 lakh acres of land. Prakasam Barrage has three canals that run through the city of Vijayawada, giving it a Venetian look. Prakasam Barrage spans over a beautiful lake and the panoramic view of this lake as seen from the barrage is truly amazing.
